Likened as the very first live-work-play “new town” development, Reston Town Center is the blueprint for mixed-use development. Founded in 1964, Reston is a true Garden City. The only other Garden City that I have indeed been to is Welwyn Garden City outside of London, which was established to create a sense of community where people could bring green space, livability, walkability, and commute to lessen the impacts on the environment. Folks who live in Reston will enjoy access to The District in about 30 minutes on a light traffic day and have access to the Silver Line Metro as well as tons of shops, restaurants and office buildings and high-density living opportunities within the town center. With its ample parks, trails and guiding principles of live-work-play lifestyle, Restonians, can come to expect activity and beauty as a part of their daily life in this award-winning, often modeled community.
